Staff Software Engineer
About the role
BCubed Engineering, an Auria company, is looking to hire a Staff Software Engineer (E4). This position is hybrid (2-3 days a week) out of one of our Bcubed offices located in Warrenton, VA or Tampa, FL.
Responsibilities
- Software Engineering Excellence: Apply advanced problem-solving skills and methodologies to complex software problem sets, driving innovation across software components and complete subsystems.
- Technical Rigor: Maintain a strict commitment to sing, repeatable processes, thorough documentation of software design, and reliable delivery. Ensure software capabilities align perfectly with the mission needs of our customers.
- End-User Focus: Design and build software with the end-user in mind, embracing a growth mindset by seeking direct feedback and suggestions to build trusted partnerships.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Act as a Contributing Team Member by managing your own workload, helping plan the software team's sprint or cycle commitments, and holding to schedules. Serve as a trusted resource for mentorship and coaching, establishing tradecraft leadership across the broader organization.
- Communication: Clearly communicate complex architectural and engineering concepts to both technical peers and non-technical audiences. Confidently communicate directly with external partners and customers.
- Innovation: Pursue innovative solutions, frameworks, and modern processes in all aspects of your development work.
Requirements
- Experience: 8-12 years of proven systems engineering experience delivering high-consequence technical solutions.
- Education & Experience: A degree in an engineering or computer science discipline from an accredited university, or equivalent knowledge acquired through apprenticeship and professional work experience.
- Advanced Expertise: Highly skilled in software engineering principles, design patterns, and modern development practices, with a proven ability to handle complex programming and architectural tasks independently.
- Delivery Focused: A relentless commitment to fully completing tasks and delivering final, production-ready code, navigating the challenging final 10% required to get a product fully across the finish line.
- Autonomy & Accountability: Demonstrated ability to manage your own workload and carry out your workshare of a team's implementation plans independently, while transparently sharing status and roadblocks.
- Trust & Integrity: A history of conducting oneself with the highest integrity, taking accountability for actions and shortcomings, and doing the right thing even when it is difficult or unpopular.
- Active SECRET Clearance (US Citizenship Required)
Preferrables
- C++ Expert: Strong in modern standards (C++17/20), manual memory management (RAII, smart pointers), multi-threading, and build tools like CMake.
- Ci/CD & Pipeline Architect: Expert at building and maintaining GitLab CI/CD pipelines, specifically handling the unique compilation, caching, and multi-stage sing requirements of hybrid C++/Python container images.
- Configuration Management (CM) & GitOps: Deep experience in code base configuration management, version control strategy (branching models, tag management), and declarative environment management (Infrastructure as Code).
Pay
The salary offered will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications - skills, education & experience - and the position level. $130,000 - $170,000
