About the role

The Staff Software Engineer will be a critical addition to our core Reporting team, focusing on corporate banking capabilities. They will lead efforts and contribute to building high-quality scalable computer software systems, participating in the design process from beginning to end. They will lead decisions to achieve our strategic product goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead code/design reviews to ensure smooth daily operations and accurate planning
  • Participate in the entire application lifecycle, focusing on coding and debugging
  • Write clean code to develop functional web applications, with a primary focus on backend development (approximately 60% backend / 40% frontend)
  • Manage complex report execution, viewing, and exports, including data synchronization between OLB banking data and ERP systems
  • Achieve deep technical domain knowledge and ownership of multiple product features end-to-end
  • Manage complex reporting processes including execution, viewing, and exporting reports across OLB banking data and ERP systems
  • Be a key strategic player involved in maintenance of product features, including on call escalations, triaging, and resolution
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and debugging
  • Perform UI tests to optimize performance
  • Liaise with developers, designers, and system administrators to identify new features
  • Manage cutting-edge technologies to improve legacy applications
  • Gather and address technical and design requirements
  • Set up and maintain environment configurations and monitor system health
  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use
  • Provide training and support to internal teams
  • Enhance development tools, test coverage, and/or code structure
  • Lead mentoring and technical support to junior engineers, providing technical oversight for a team of 6 core engineers
  • Respond promptly to on-call incidents, including troubleshooting and resolving critical disruptions to ensure minimal downtime
  • Maintain clear and proactive communication with customers and vendors to ensure a positive, collaborative relationship
  • Facilitate cross-functional coordination with internal teams to ensure seamless data flow and reporting accuracy
  • Exemplify self-sufficiency by independently managing tasks, problem-solving, and meeting deadlines, while adapting to new challenges without supervision
  • Establish and maintain development standards within the team
  • Champion an API-first approach to software projects, ensuring seamless integration, scalability, and extensibility
  • Lead adoption of AI-driven engineering practices, enabling large-scale code modernization, specification-driven development, and efficient agency workflows across teams
  • Participate in on call rotation

Qualifications

  • Minimum 9 years of related experience in software development; or a related field; or 7 years and an advanced degree
  • Strong programming skills in .NET/C#, with Java experience also acceptable, and proven work experience as a full stack developer
  • Strong experience working with modern JavaScript frameworks like Vue.js or Angular (preferred), React, HTML, and CSS
  • In-depth understanding of the entire software development process (design, development and deployment)
  • Experience developing and deploying applications for Cloud Native Infrastructure
  • Collaborates effectively within the agile framework with a problem-solving attitude and willing to take a variety of approaches
  • Excellent analytical and time management skills, with a proven ability to deliver value independently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience providing technical input at a staff level
  • Proven experience in monitoring and supporting production systems, with proficiency in identifying and resolving issues, implementing proactive measures, and measurement tracking
  • Advanced experience optimizing system performance, including the ability to troubleshoot bottlenecks and implement performance improvements
  • Advanced experience in SQL and NoSQL databases, coupled with caching mechanisms. Includes designing data structures, optimizing, and maintaining systems, as well as effective caching strategies to enhance performance and responsiveness
  • Advanced strategies for developing tests including unit tests, UI automation tests, integration tests
  • Experience building and deploying applications using Kubernetes
  • Experience in Open telemetry
  • Experience in cross platform mobile development frameworks like Flutter

Preferred Experience & Education

  • Master’s degree in engineering, technology or related field
  • Experience working with SaaS offerings in the technology and financial industries
  • Experience building and deploying applications on Amazon Web Services using Kubernetes
