Staff Software Engineer, AI Platform

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Software Engineer, AI Platform to join the team of a leader in the Real Estate & Construction space. This role will shape the core AI platform that enables engineering teams to build, deploy, and operate agentic systems at scale. You will own critical platform capabilities end to end, with a strong focus on reliability, abstraction, safety, observability, and performance in production. The position partners closely with other engineering teams to provide stable APIs, strong developer experience, and infrastructure that supports efficient, secure AI adoption across the organization. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $160,000 – $260,000 annually Responsibilities Own and develop significant parts of the AI platform end to end Ensure reliability and performance of the AI model gateway in production Design and implement model provider abstraction and failover strategies Create a consistent agent surface across various frameworks Develop evaluation and benchmarking capabilities from the ground up Establish safety guardrails for agents to reach production Manage inference costs and latency effectively Raise observability standards prior to scaling Mentor team members and produce lasting designs and documentation Qualifications 8+ years of experience building and operating production systems Direct experience shipping agentic systems into production Hands-on experience with multiple model providers Expertise in evaluation, observability, or guardrail tooling for agentic systems Proven platform engineering experience supporting users from other engineering teams Deep knowledge of at least one major public cloud environment Ability to design stable APIs and abstractions Demonstrable ownership of production systems, including incident response Strong communication skills in English, verbal and written Benefits 401(k) plan with matching contributions Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision care Paid parental leave at full salary Generous paid time off and company holidays Early access to earned wages through Daily Pay Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
