About the Role
The Staff/Senior Machine Learning Scientist - Forecasting role focuses on developing and managing advanced machine learning systems that support critical business forecasting functions. This position is vital for improving demand, inventory, supply chain, and resource allocation forecasts, ensuring accurate and actionable insights that influence key operational decisions. The role involves end-to-end ownership of ML systems, emphasizing reliability, model performance, and integration with business needs.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage end-to-end machine learning systems including scoping, feature engineering, model development, validation, deployment, and ongoing monitoring.
- Develop production-grade evaluation infrastructure with automated backtests, uncertainty quantification, and data validation.
- Build AI-assisted development workflows to automate repetitive tasks with quality controls.
- Define and communicate success metrics aligned with business outcomes.
- Write production-quality, testable code supporting reproducible workflows.
- Collaborate across functions to translate business requirements into technical roadmaps.
- Enhance forecasts across multiple time horizons and business segments balancing accuracy, stability, interpretability, and cost.
- Productize forecast outputs with clear documentation and reporting.
- Apply feature engineering and probabilistic forecasting techniques.
- Partner with leaders in operations, supply chain, inventory, finance, and marketing.
Requirements
- Senior level: 5+ years of applied ML/data science experience with production model ownership.
- Expertise in forecasting methods or Bayesian statistical methods.
- Strong fundamentals in statistics and probabilistic forecasting.
- Proficiency in Python or R and SQL with production-quality coding skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration with non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with AI-assisted development workflows.
- Staff level: 8+ years of experience or PhD with 3+ years applied experience.
- Proven ability to build and maintain end-to-end ML systems including monitoring and automated reporting.
- Capability to manage and improve complex ML architectures autonomously.
- Technical leadership and mentoring skills.
Pay
- Senior level salary range: $180,000–$220,000.
- Staff level salary range: $210,000–$250,000.
- Eligibility for annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
