About the Role

Conduct ecological and natural resource field surveys such as wetland delineations and threatened and endangered species assessments. Responsibilities may also include NEPA evaluations, environmental site investigations, assessments, and surveys to sample, measure, and analyze environmental factors like air, water, material, and soil. Identify and evaluate ecological risk factors and recommend risk strategies or designs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Prepare applicable permit applications, risk assessments, and technical documents, including proposals, reports, and regulatory agency correspondence. Projects will primarily focus on ecological and natural resource field surveys and NEPA evaluations.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects; participate in pre-task planning and report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Demonstrate quality practices and acumen; maintain consistent quality standards on proposal and project delivery.
  • Conduct site testing and make recommendations for systems design on smaller projects of minimal complexity; may assist more senior scientists or engineers on larger, more complex projects.
  • Perform site visits, field observations, and field data collection or assignments.
  • Implement technical requirements to complete client projects by directing and supervising field staff to sample, test, collect data, and/or document site activities.
  • Develop written proposals to clients for approval by senior-level professionals.
  • Evaluate moderately complex laboratory and field data and assemble findings into written reports.
  • Serve as a team member and participate in meetings and communications with clients pertaining to specific projects or tasks.
  • May oversee work performed by lower-level scientists, engineers, and technicians.
  • Work under the supervision of a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or a related science field, or a minimum of 3 years’ related experience in lieu of a degree, or a minimum of 7 years’ related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable violation history.
  • Certification in a relevant field of expertise.
