About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated Staff Scientist to lead innovative research focused on understanding the pathogenesis of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) using advanced human airway organoid and immune cell co-culture systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge translational research within a collaborative and dynamic academic environment.
Responsibilities
- Independently design and execute experiments related to RSV pathogenesis using human airway organoid and immune cell co-culture systems.
- Analyze and interpret complex datasets from experimental results.
- Develop and optimize a co-culture platform integrating human immune cells and human airway organoids to investigate host-pathogen interactions and immune responses during RSV infection.
- Provide scientific leadership and guidance for the project, including regular updates to the Principal Investigator.
- Present research findings weekly in internal lab meetings, bi-weekly in research think tanks, and annually at national or international conferences.
- Write abstracts and manuscripts for publication and assist the PI and co-PI in grant submissions for funding.
- Supervise, schedule, and coordinate the activities of less experienced research staff as needed.
- Document results of experiments and report findings to principal investigators.
- Conduct literature searches and summarize information relevant to specific studies.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Microbiology, Immunology, Virology, or a closely related biomedical science discipline.
- 3 to 4 years of postdoctoral fellowship experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in respiratory virus research, particularly RSV or related viral pathogens.
- Hands-on experience with human airway organoids, flow cytometry, and bioinformatics-based data analysis.
