Responsibilities
- Operate, troubleshoot, and design complex scientific apparatus
- Collaborate with engineers and other scientists to develop next-generation instrumentation
- Write detailed reports and present findings to stakeholders
- Stay up-to-date with latest developments and advancements in instrumentation
- Handle multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment
- Identify possible improvements in the instruments used, discuss them with others, and work with a team to implement them
- Naturally strive for efficiency and complete projects fully and with no leftover loose ends
- Enjoy traveling, meeting new people, training others, and learning from the experience
- Able to quickly pick up new proficiencies on as-needed basis, such as a new simulation package
- Conduct original research and experiments
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure safety protocols
Qualifications
- Recent Ph.D. in physics or related discipline
- Solid communication skills
- Willingness to travel (electron microscope operating experience is a plus)
