About the role
The Registered Nurse (RN) at KDMC provides professional, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to an assigned patient population. They work collaboratively with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to assess patient needs, develop individualized care plans, administer medications and treatments, and evaluate patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments under the direction of a physician.
- Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust care plans as necessary.
- Promote patient safety and deliver high-quality care in accordance with KDMC policies and accepted nursing standards.
- Serve as a leader and advocate for patients and their families throughout the continuum of care.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Previous nursing experience preferred.
- Current Mississippi Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- CPR certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications within the first year of employment.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Demonstrates competency in required nursing skills as verified through competency checklists.
- Successfully completes required pharmacology competency assessment.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to utilize appropriate channels of communication.
- Ability to remain calm, organized, and effective in stressful situations.
- Flexibility and willingness to rotate shifts, assignments, and duty areas as needed.
- Promotes positive working relationships within the department and across the organization.
- Demonstrates professionalism, teamwork, and commitment to providing quality patient care.
Special Qualifications
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, and perform other physical activities required for patient care.
- Ability to assist with patient movement, transfers, and other duties requiring physical strength and endurance.
