About the role
The Radiation Oncology Department at Brigham and Women’s Hospital is seeking a dynamic and skilled radiation therapist to join our team. This position offers the opportunity to deliver cutting-edge cancer care and utilize advanced treatment technologies.
Responsibilities
- Administers radiation therapy treatment accurately and safely, following departmental policy and procedure.
- Understands the function of all equipment, accessories, treatment policies, procedures, and protocols and applies knowledge appropriately.
- Aids in the triage of emergent cases and schedules emergent cases with other care team members.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, medical staff, and healthcare team.
- Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed.
- Positions and immobilizes patients according to the treatment plan and evaluates images according to standard guidelines.
- Works professionally and collaboratively with all members of the care team, including, Physicians, nurses, physics and dosimetry staff, medical assistants, practice assistants.
- Performs daily QA measures to ensure proficient operation of all imaging and treatment equipment.
- Attentively monitors the patient’s physical and physiological response to treatment and refers patient for appropriate management as needed.
- Participates in some clinical instruction and evaluation of the Radiation Therapy students.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent with certificate in Radiation Therapy or associates degree in Radiation Therapy.
- Valid Massachusetts State License in Radiation Therapy.
- Valid BLS certification.
Skills
- Knowledge of radiation therapy treatment modalities and protocols.
- Ability to operate and maintain treatment and treatment planning equipment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Pay
$51.50 - $56.59/Hourly Grade 6
