Staff QA Engineer
About the Opportunity
The Staff QA Engineer role is focused on leading and advancing the quality assurance function within the organization. This position is responsible for defining quality standards, driving automation strategies, and ensuring that software releases consistently meet high standards for reliability, performance, and user experience. The role contributes significantly to the organization's ability to deliver dependable and effective solutions by establishing scalable QA processes and leveraging AI to enhance testing practices.
Responsibilities
Own and develop the overall quality assurance strategy.
Establish scalable QA processes supporting rapid and reliable releases.
Define quality standards, release criteria, and testing best practices.
Continuously improve quality measurement and communication.
Identify and implement earlier quality integration in development.
Lead the technical direction of automated testing strategies.
Design, build, and maintain automated testing frameworks integrated with CI/CD pipelines.
Evaluate and adopt tools and frameworks supporting long-term quality and velocity.
Expand automated test coverage and reduce manual testing.
Champion quality by understanding customer workflows and anticipating issues.
Prioritize defects and balance quality with release speed.
Collaborate with Product to enhance customer experience.
Coordinate quality efforts across Engineering, Product, Customer Success, and other teams.
Partner with Customer Success to replicate and validate fixes for complex issues.
Influence continuous quality improvements throughout the software development lifecycle.
Implement AI-powered workflows to improve testing efficiency and scalability.
Requirements
7+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance with strong automation expertise.
Proven autonomy in leading QA in fast-paced software environments.
Ability to design scalable QA processes and automation strategies.
Strong product understanding and user experience advocacy.
Experience leading quality initiatives across cross-functional teams.
Proficiency with automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
Experience testing AI or large language model-powered products.
Background in building or evolving QA functions in startups.
Programming proficiency.
Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).
Familiarity with API, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
Knowledge of bug tracking and test management tools.
Experience implementing AI-assisted testing workflows.
Pay Range and Compensation Package
Salary range: $170,000 to $210,000 USD.
