Staff Purchaser - Construction (Houston)

About the role

The Staff Purchaser is responsible for managing purchasing activities from start to finish, ensuring that materials, supplies, equipment, and deliveries meet project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Order materials, supplies, equipment, and track shipments with vendors.
• Evaluate supplier proposals and recommend purchases to managers.
• Create purchase orders and enter data into an online system.
• Prepare and submit expediting requests to support equipment and material delivery.
• Source and qualify potential suppliers for goods and services.
• Communicate with stakeholders, including management, to resolve procurement issues.
• Compile and update procurement and expediting status reports.
• Prepare and manage various forms and reports related to contracts and projects.
• Update project procurement status and compile material reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with all company policies and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, law, or construction-related field.
• 3 years of direct purchasing experience.
• Preferred: Project purchasing experience, Oracle Financial R12 software experience, CPM Certification, or CPSM Certification.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
• Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience devising new approaches to purchasing challenges.
