About the role
The Staff Project Engineer at CIRCOR Aerospace & Defense is responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of complex engineering projects from conception to completion. This includes design, development, testing, implementation, and providing direction to a team of engineers. They will serve as the primary point of contact for all external customer technical matters and will lead technical update meetings with internal and external customers.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all external customer technical matters.
- Lead technical update meetings with internal and external customers.
- Schedule design reviews.
- Ensure Engineering Change Requests and Notices are worked.
- Update project plans.
- Support Senior Director, Chief Engineer and Program Managers in tracking budgets and forecasts to complete (on time, on budget).
- Manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Primary contact for design engineering for internal cross-functional meetings.
- Communicate with external customers to cover control of order changes technically; assure that test and quality standards are achieved; interface with the customer in drawing and document information exchanges; review of contract specifications and communication of the requirements.
- Aid in the development of project engineering and management processes.
- Assist in updates to department metrics as assigned.
- Perform some design engineering work as assigned, including technical papers, calculations, and analysis, and models/drawings depending on need and current skillset.
- May provide technical guidance for the preparation of technical proposals.
- Can be a technical leader on a New Development Project, working with the design engineers conducting the detailed execution and in constant coordination and communication with the Senior Director of Engineering.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, with at least two years’ relevant experience.
- Two years’ relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experienced in a manufacturing environment with at least moderate understanding of manufacturing processes, design engineering best practices, logistics, and leadership skills that favor positive motivation.
- Skilled at project engineering with interpersonal skills - PMBOK techniques a plus.
- Knowledge and understanding of standard manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Resourceful and well organized.
- Ability to lead a New Product Development project and effectively work in a cross-functional team.
- Technical Writing – Procedures, Results, as assigned.
- Dedicated to high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to perform in an ambiguous environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, Access).
- Previous experience with Integrated Project Teams is a plus.
- Valve design familiarity a plus, but manufacturing environment experience required.

- Self-starter, organized, thorough and meticulous, able to work under pressure to ensure quality and delivery, but quality over delivery if any compromise cannot be avoided despite schedule pressure.
- Skilled at project engineering.
- Interpersonal skills - PMBOK techniques a plus.
