About the Role

The Project Engineer (PE) is responsible for the Technical Management of the Program, overseeing requirements analysis and management, technical planning, systems-level design, systems integration, verification and validation, cost and risk management, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. The PE translates customer requirements into systems specifications, performs functional and timeline analysis, and ensures the logistical and systematic conversion of requirements into total system solutions within technical, schedule, and cost constraints. The PE acts as the liaison between the Program Management Office (PMO) and the engineering team, ensuring adherence to standard Engineering practices and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Engineering project plans for new product development or sustainment of existing projects.
  • Perform requirements management using tools such as DOORS.
  • Establish timelines, budgets/estimates, and secure support/buy-in from functional and senior management.
  • Conceptualize, analyze, design, and oversee semi-complex systems-level architecture design.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, ensuring proper engineering discipline representation.
  • Identify and resolve roadblocks and bottlenecks; develop recovery plans for off-schedule events.
  • Communicate with Engineering resources to ensure task progression.
  • Escalate engineering issues to appropriate management levels.
  • Maintain action item lists and conduct project reviews.
  • Represent project execution issues in stakeholder or customer discussions.
  • Create procedures for systems engineering tasks.
  • Assist with systems integration, verification, and validation tasks.
  • Follow internal systems engineering procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related Project Engineering Management and Systems Engineering experience.
  • Working knowledge of Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering processes.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including Microsoft Project and associated applications.
  • Experience with systems-level block diagram capture tools (e.g., Visio).
  • Familiarity with systems engineering tools.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or exposure is a plus.
  • Experience with Requirements Management Tools (e.g., DOORS) is preferred.
