About the role
The Project Engineer (PE) is responsible for the Technical Management of the Program along with the oversight of performing requirements analysis and management, technical planning, systems-level design, systems integration, verification and validation, cost and risk management, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Engineering project plans on assigned Programs in new product development or sustainment of existing projects.
- Perform requirements management using tools such as DOORS.
- Establish timelines, budgets/estimates, and secure support/buy-in from functional and senior management.
- Conceptualize, analyze, design, and oversee semi-complex systems-level architecture design.
- Lead teams and facilitate the communication and interaction amongst the functional representatives; develop cross-functional teams to assure proper engineering discipline representation on a task.
- Perform requirements analysis and allocations.
- Identify roadblocks and bottlenecks to project execution and determine a course of action to eliminate or avoid them; develop and implement recovery plans for off-schedule and unanticipated events.
- Communicate with the Engineering resources to ensure that specific tasks assigned to them are progressing at the required completion rate.
- Escalate engineering issues to the appropriate level of management for which the engineering team cannot reach consensus.
- Maintain action item lists.
- Conduct project reviews as required; present detailed plan status to senior management as required.
- Represent project execution issues in stakeholder or customer discussions.
- Create procedures for carrying out various systems engineering tasks.
- Affiliate with verification and validation tasks.
- Follow internal systems engineering procedures for carrying out various SE responsibilities.
- Other related duties assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline with a minimum of 5 years of related Project Engineering Management and Systems Engineering experience to be proficient in the above areas, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Requires a working knowledge of engineering processes related to Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Proficiency with MS Office, including Microsoft Project and associated applications, is needed.
- Systems-level block diagram capture tools such as Visio.
- Other related systems engineering tools.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) exposure or certification a plus.
- Requirements Management Tools preferred (DOORs or other similar relational databases).

- Demonstrated strong leadership at a Program level.
