About the Role
This role owns Udemy's product surface that lets creators connect with, teach, and retain their learners over time, keeping that value inside the combined Coursera + Udemy ecosystem. You will shape the future of ongoing learner-creator relationships, moving beyond one-time courses to recurring engagement.
- Community & learner connection: The messaging and comms layer (Q&A, announcements, direct communications) that keeps creators and learners in contact between sessions.
- Human-to-human learning: Higher-touch formats where a creator's expertise shows up live: 1:1 connect, VILT, and webinars.
- Instructor profiles & channels: The creator's home on the platform—a profile and channel to promote content, build their brand, and serve as a durable front door independent of marketplace merchandising or AI-driven discovery.
- Creator channels & tooling: Tools for building and running an audience, including channel management, social/community tools, and subscriptions. The recurring economic model offers 50/50 revenue split when Udemy sources the learner and 70/30 when the instructor does.
- Flagship — Instructor Communities: Own the transition from a 60-instructor pilot (on Circle.so) to a scalable business line by 2027. Near-term: launch the pilot on a Finance-supported manual billing bridge while securing the committed Product/Engineering path to automated in-house billing. Long-term: refine the model based on early signals around value creation, conversion, retention, and scalability across Product, Finance, Consumer, and Content/Instructor teams.
Responsibilities
- Drive the product vision and roadmap for creator-led community and recurring engagement surfaces.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Finance, Consumer, Content) to scale Instructor Communities from pilot to business line.
- Partner with the cohort-based learning PM to ensure community, profiles, and creator tooling reinforce (not duplicate) cohort experiences.
- Define success metrics for learner value, instructor retention, and platform growth.
- Advocate for creators’ needs while aligning with Coursera + Udemy’s strategic goals.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Product Manager, preferably in EdTech, learning technologies, or content authoring tools.
- Familiarity with B2B2C business models and recurring revenue strategies.
- Experience with AI-driven products (e.g., content generation, adaptive learning, multimodal authoring).
- Track record of launching and scaling products from pilot to business line.
- Strong stakeholder management skills across Product, Engineering, and Finance.
Benefits
- Bonus program and equity in the form of RSUs.
- Mission-driven work with global impact in education and skills development.
- Virtual-first, globally distributed team with intentional collaboration opportunities.
