About Us

Fanatics is building a leading global digital sports platform. We ignite the passions of global sports fans and maximize the presence and reach for our hundreds of sports partners globally by offering products and services across Fanatics Commerce, Fanatics Collectibles, and Fanatics Betting & Gaming, allowing sports fans to Buy, Collect, and Bet. Through the Fanatics platform, sports fans can buy licensed fan gear, jerseys, lifestyle and streetwear products, headwear, and hardgoods; collect physical and digital trading cards, sports memorabilia, and other digital assets; and bet as the company builds its Sportsbook and iGaming platform.

The Fanatics App is becoming the daily home for sports fans—the place they buy, bet, collect, and play from one connected surface. The Shop pod owns the commerce heart of that experience: how fans discover, browse, and buy licensed gear, jerseys, and exclusive drops without ever leaving the app they already live in. You'll lead design for the App Shop experience—discovery, merchandising, product detail, and the handoff into cart and checkout—inside an app built to serve fans who come in wanting three very different things: to shop, to play, or just to check the score. Shop has to earn its place next to those other surfaces, feel unmistakably Fanatics, and convert without ever feeling like a bolted-on storefront.

What You'll Own

  • End-to-end Shop design: discovery and browse, merchandising and personalized recommendations, product detail, and the cross-sell and post-purchase moments that turn a single sale into a habit.
  • Multi-milestone design programs, at times ambiguous—you'll drive them to business outcomes with minimal oversight, shaping product vision and managing stakeholders and team capacity.
  • The pod's slice of the FanApp design system: patterns for product cards, merchandising modules, and recommendation surfaces that other pods can adopt.
  • Prototyping as the way you decide, including in the product environment itself (code/app, not just Figma)—using AI tools to explore and validate real behavior against real data and backend constraints.
  • Design evaluation and validation standards for the pod: setting the bar for how work gets critiqued, redlined, and handed off to engineering.
  • Mentorship for designers on and around the Shop pod—craft, ownership, and collaboration.

How You'll Work

You'll partner closely with the Shop pod's Product Manager and Engineering Manager, sitting inside the pod rather than serving it from a distance. You'll also work horizontally with the other FanApp design staff and leads to keep Shop's patterns coherent with the rest of the app—Home, Scores, Loyalty, and beyond. Expect to partner with pod leadership on planning and roadmap-building, influencing what gets prioritized based on user insight, design principles, and business impact—and to connect that strategy to your own day-to-day execution.

What Success Looks Like

  • A Shop experience that measurably grows conversion and repeat purchase, especially among Shop-led Fans, without alienating fans who came to the app for other reasons.
  • Discovery and merchandising patterns adopted elsewhere in the app because they're good, not because they're mandated.
  • A visibly lower drop-off between discovery, product detail, and the handoff to cart/checkout.
  • A team that ships with a higher craft bar because you raised it.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in Product Design, with experience operating at Staff scope—owning design across a team, not just a feature.
  • E-commerce, shopping, or merchandising design experience; you understand what makes a fan click “buy” versus keep scrolling.
  • Strong systems thinking—you've built patterns and components that other teams adopted, and you know why some libraries stick and most don't.
  • Prototyping fluency, including in the product's own code/app environment, and comfort using AI tools to move faster without losing rigor.
  • A track record of mentoring designers and setting design/craft standards for people beyond yourself.
  • Comfort in a mobile-first, fast-moving consumer environment where the roadmap can be ambiguous and priorities shift.

Design Craft

  • You design complete systems, not just screens—you can hold the whole Shop experience in your head without losing the individual moment.
  • You're a custodian of visual and interaction quality for your area, and you know when to simplify and unify rather than add another pattern.
  • You prototype fluently enough to settle debates with a demo instead of a deck.
  • You mentor by example—the designers around you get better because they're working next to you.
  • You understand the data and backend realities well enough to design interactions that are feasible, resilient, and predictable at the edges.
