Staff Process Engineer- LNG

About the role
As a Process Engineer with the Gas Processes Team, you will lead process engineering design of chemical facilities, including: LNG, Carbon Capture, Hydrogen, Fertilizers (Ammonia, Urea, etc.), Gasification, Fermentation, Sulfur Recovery, Gas Treatment, Biofuels, Syngas Processing, and NGL Recovery and Fractionation. You will also lead implementation of solutions through the project lifecycle: feasibility, FEL stages, FEED, detailed design, EPC, and commissioning. The ideal candidate will be located or willing to relocate to our World Headquarters Office in Overland Park, KS (Kansas City) or our Regional Office in Houston, TX.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance on design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes, and Black & Veatch policies.
- Ensure compliance with Black & Veatch quality program and provide related guidance to others.
- Support continuous improvement and change management efforts.
- Prepare complex engineering deliverables for larger or multiple projects, including equipment/materials selection, engineering calculations, and data management.
- Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Apply advanced engineering techniques and analysis to solve problems.
- Delegate tasks to and review work of junior team members to develop project execution staff.
- Lead production teams, coordinate multi-discipline activities, and serve as responsible charge for projects.
- Coordinate with internal and external team members on moderately complex projects.
- Identify key client interests and drivers, and communicate these to the project team to accommodate concerns.
- Support business development or pursuit activities and offer services to clients.
- Provide consultation and guidance as a technical specialist in a particular practice area.
- Design complete projects of moderately complex scope or support multiple projects on complex technical challenges.
- Foster knowledge management and mentor lower-level professionals.
- Assist with performance management, mentoring, recognition, and corrective actions.
- Participate in career planning, learning, and development.
- Assist with resource management strategy and may have responsibility for engineering resources for small groups.
- Ensure policies, procedures, and processes are effectively implemented and adhered to within the work group.
- Approve timesheets and expense reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program.
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
- Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, including background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in LNG Liquefaction design or operations.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License.
- Experience with Smart Plant P&ID (SPPID).
- Working knowledge of PRO II, Promax, Protreat, HYSYS, and similar process simulation packages.
- Skills in written communications, drive for results, priority setting, planning, delegation, directing others, conflict management, informing, listening, dealing with ambiguity, and building effective teams.
- Intermediate knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to assigned engineering discipline.

Pay
Annual compensation range: $120,406.00 - $201,080.00.
Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion, job performance, and work assignments.
