About the role
The position is listed on behalf of a partner company managing all applications and next steps. Our partner is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer based in the United States. This role involves leading the design and evolution of secure, cloud-native platforms supporting critical mission-driven environments.
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture, development, and continuous improvement of platform capabilities connecting applications with secure and scalable runtime environments.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable runtime production environments across cloud-native and containerized systems.
- Develop and execute platform strategies, technical roadmaps, and engineering standards aligned with mission objectives.
- Transform applications into Kubernetes-ready formats and support modern deployment approaches across diverse environments.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, helping raise engineering standards and supporting professional growth.
- Identify opportunities for platform improvements, process optimization, and increased delivery efficiency across teams.
- Collaborate with product teams to provide technical guidance, improve product fit, and influence future product direction.
- Partner with customers and stakeholders to define technical roadmaps and align solutions with operational goals.
- Drive adoption of DevSecOps practices, including security automation, container security, cloud security, and compliance-focused engineering.
- Improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, infrastructure automation, and operational tooling.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions to address complex technical and business challenges.
- Support cross-functional teams by providing expertise in architecture, performance, monitoring, and security design.
- Occasionally travel to support customer and team collaboration needs.
Requirements
- Extensive experience solving complex technical challenges across multiple engineering domains.
- Deep expertise in one or more key technologies such as Kubernetes, GitOps, CI/CD pipelines, or Go.
- Advanced proficiency with YAML and infrastructure configuration management.
- Experience with continuous delivery, distributed architectures, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud services.
- Strong knowledge of DevSecOps practices, including API security, container security, and cloud security principles.
- Advanced understanding of secure architectures, monitoring systems, and performance instrumentation for complex environments.
- Ability to identify process gaps, introduce improvements, and establish scalable engineering practices.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working within Agile teams in remote environments.
- Preferred experience with DoD environments, production authorization processes, or mission-critical systems.
- Familiarity with Big Bang, Iron Bank, C-ATO processes, or similar secure software delivery frameworks is a plus.
- DoD 8570 IAT II certification or ability to obtain is preferred.
