Staff Physician
About the role
The staff physician is an integral member of the health care team at Health Services that serves the diverse student population at Brown. As a member of a primary care practice at Health Services, the staff physician provides patient focused primary care to undergraduate, graduate, medical and pre-college students. In addition, the staff physician participates as a supervisor and consultant to Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant providers at Health Services as requested. Other administrative duties include participation in Quality Improvement activities and other duties assigned to support the achievement of the mission and goals of Brown Health Services.
Schedule
This is a 12 month, 22.5 hour (3 days) per week assignment. Scheduled weekly hours: 22.5. Position work location: Onsite.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) Degree
- Active Rhode Island Medical License and DEA license or eligibility prior to appointment
- Board Certification in primary care specialty (internal medicine, pediatrics or family medicine)
- Two or more years of demonstrated post residency experience in ambulatory primary care or two year fellowship in adolescent medicine preferred
- Experience working with the college population is preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with parents, staff, and others
- Demonstrated ability to work with computers including comfort with electronic health records, email, and word processing
Preferred qualifications
Specialized training or certification in one of the following areas is highly preferred:
- Sports Medicine
- Gender Care
- Mental Healthcare
- Eating Disorder Care
