About The Role
The Pharmacist monitors and assures compliance to State and Federal Rules and Regulations, FDA requirements, manufacturer contractual agreements, and internal quality assurance checks while overseeing the dispensing of specialty medications. The Staff Pharmacist will support the safe, accurate, and compliant dispensing of specialty medications while helping deliver an exceptional patient experience. Responsibilities include fulfillment and clinical duties, with opportunities for special projects, or can be fulfillment focused only if preferred.
Responsibilities
- Review and verify prescriptions to ensure accuracy, appropriateness and compliance with all federal and state law and regulatory standards
- Provide medication counseling to patients, ensuring they understand their therapies, potential side effects, and proper administration
- Provide a final quality of assurance check to all dispensed medications while participating in quality assurance activities, including med error reporting, root cause analysis and implementation of corrective policies and procedures
- Provide oversight and quality assurance to fulfillment pharmacy technicians, providing guidance on pharmacy operations and best practices
- Assume management responsibility over the entire pharmacy in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager
- Maintain appropriate security of the Pharmacy department
Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered licensure as a pharmacist within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
- Bachelor’s degree (BS), Doctoral degree (PharmD), or equivalent in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited institution
- Previous experience in specialty pharmacy or mail-order pharmacy is valued, but not required
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
Schedule
On-site in Pittsburgh, PA
Flexible scheduling, including the potential for 8 or 10-hour shifts, primarily weekdays.
