Staff Pharmacist

DESCRIPTION

General Function - Responsible for the safe, accurate, and appropriate provision of pharmaceutical care, including medication order verification, dispensing, clinical review, medication therapy monitoring, and oversight of pharmacy operations in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.

Educational Requirements

• Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
• Currently licensed, or eligible for licensure, as a pharmacist by the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy

Experience Requirements

• Hospital or health-system pharmacy experience is preferred but not required.
• Previous pharmacy practice experience that demonstrates sound professional judgment and readiness to transition into the hospital setting is acceptable.

Job Related Hazards

• Prolonged standing, walking, repetitive computer use
• Occasional lifting or movement of supplies and medication containers
• Potential exposure to hazardous drugs, including antineoplastic agents, and other pharmaceutical chemicals
• Potential exposure to infectious patients, bodily fluids, or contaminated materials within the hospital environment
• Frequent interruptions, competing priorities, and time-sensitive responsibilities requiring sustained attention and accuracy
