Staff Pharmacist
About the role
Tampa Family Health Centers is a Federally Qualified Health Center providing high-quality, compassionate, and accessible healthcare to diverse communities throughout Hillsborough County. As a Staff Pharmacist, you will support a high-risk and medically complex patient population through close collaboration with providers, pharmacy technicians, and interdisciplinary care teams.
Essential Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe, effective, and cost-efficient use of medications
- Provide accurate, age-appropriate pharmaceutical care
- Review prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, interactions, contraindications, and therapeutic effectiveness
- Provide medication counseling and drug information to patients, providers, and clinical staff
- Support formulary management and therapeutic substitution initiatives
- Maintain working knowledge of the 340B Drug Pricing Program
- Supervise pharmacy technicians, including training, workflow oversight, and daily performance monitoring
- Aid in the development and maintenance of pharmacy protocols, clinical services, and quality-improvement programs
- Participate in multidisciplinary committees, audits, and accreditation-readiness activities
- Identify, document, and report adverse drug reactions and medication errors
- Support pharmacy operations, including inventory control, supply management, and cash-handling procedures
- Maintain complete and accurate pharmacy and electronic health record documentation
- Protect patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and safety
- Comply with HIPAA, federal, state, accreditation, 340B, and TFHC requirements
Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in the State of Florida
- Current Basic Life Support certification
- Current certification to administer immunizations
- Completion of the 340B University OnDemand certificate within the first two weeks of employment, with annual renewal
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred
- Medication Therapy Management experience preferred
- Pharmacy residency training preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to supervise and support pharmacy technicians effectively
- Ability to work with patients from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds
- Proficiency with pharmacy systems, electronic health records, and Microsoft Office applications
