Job Overview
The Staff Nuclear Pharmacist will play an essential role in assisting the Pharmacy Manager efforts for the safe, effective and client-focused operation of the Nuclear Pharmacy.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Compounds, prepares and dispenses radiopharmaceuticals per physician prescriptions and Company, State and Federal regulations.
- Performs Quality Control testing on all dispensed products.
- Affirms medications to determine identity, purity and strength; performs white blood cell labeling, enters daily elutions, kit preparations, and inventory audits.
- Complies with all Company, State and Federal requirements for the handling and shipping of radioactive material.
- Keeps laboratory clean as per regulatory specifications.
- Aids the Pharmacy Manager with overseeing pharmacy staff, technicians, lab workers and drivers.
- Absorbs the responsibility of running the facility, known as Pharmacist in Charge, as needed.
- Aids with the monitoring and control of operational expenses, inventory and purchasing of supplies within the pharmacy.
- Provides clinical support for customers with radiopharmaceutical questions.
- Informs management of complaints or requests in a timely manner.
- Provides training and instruction to pharmacy technicians, lab assistants and nuclear medicine technology students.
- Follows Standard Operating Procedures while safely carrying out the responsibilities of position.
- Complies with all company safety standards, and all federal, state and local laws.
- Performs other job-related duties as required by the Pharmacy Manager.
Job Requirements
- Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
- Valid pharmacist license in the state in which the pharmacy operates, or the ability to obtain a license within a reasonable timeframe.
- Willingness to become an Authorized Nuclear Pharmacist (ANP) through provided education.
- Ability to work a variety of schedules including overnights, evenings, holidays and weekends.
- Possess a valid driver license.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal communication and leadership skills.
Physical and Intellectual Requirements
- Manual dexterity for manipulating small items;
- Regularly lift at least 50 pounds throughout each shift and to be able to lift 75 pounds on occasion.
- Able to handle standing, walking and sitting for 4+ hours with limited rest intervals;
- Good eye-hand coordination;
- Fair eyesight (with or without correction lenses);
- Normal hearing in at least one ear (hearing range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz);
- Able to analyze situations, set priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced and dynamic environment;
- Effective organizational skills;
- A commitment to continuous learning;
- An ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
