Job Overview

The Staff Nuclear Pharmacist will play an essential role in assisting the Pharmacy Manager efforts for the safe, effective and client-focused operation of the Nuclear Pharmacy.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Compounds, prepares and dispenses radiopharmaceuticals per physician prescriptions and Company, State and Federal regulations.
  • Performs Quality Control testing on all dispensed products.
  • Affirms medications to determine identity, purity and strength; performs white blood cell labeling, enters daily elutions, kit preparations, and inventory audits.
  • Complies with all Company, State and Federal requirements for the handling and shipping of radioactive material.
  • Keeps laboratory clean as per regulatory specifications.
  • Aids the Pharmacy Manager with overseeing pharmacy staff, technicians, lab workers and drivers.
  • Absorbs the responsibility of running the facility, known as Pharmacist in Charge, as needed.
  • Aids with the monitoring and control of operational expenses, inventory and purchasing of supplies within the pharmacy.
  • Provides clinical support for customers with radiopharmaceutical questions.
  • Informs management of complaints or requests in a timely manner.
  • Provides training and instruction to pharmacy technicians, lab assistants and nuclear medicine technology students.
  • Follows Standard Operating Procedures while safely carrying out the responsibilities of position.
  • Complies with all company safety standards, and all federal, state and local laws.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required by the Pharmacy Manager.

Job Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
  • Valid pharmacist license in the state in which the pharmacy operates, or the ability to obtain a license within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Willingness to become an Authorized Nuclear Pharmacist (ANP) through provided education.
  • Ability to work a variety of schedules including overnights, evenings, holidays and weekends.
  • Possess a valid driver license.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal communication and leadership skills.

Physical and Intellectual Requirements

  • Manual dexterity for manipulating small items;
  • Regularly lift at least 50 pounds throughout each shift and to be able to lift 75 pounds on occasion.
  • Able to handle standing, walking and sitting for 4+ hours with limited rest intervals;
  • Good eye-hand coordination;
  • Fair eyesight (with or without correction lenses);
  • Normal hearing in at least one ear (hearing range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz);
  • Able to analyze situations, set priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced and dynamic environment;
  • Effective organizational skills;
  • A commitment to continuous learning;
  • An ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
