About the Role
We are looking for an efficient, flexible, and highly motivated Staff Pharmacist to join our team full-time at our closed-door Medicap Pharmacy facility in Iowa City, IA. This role offers a sign-on bonus and competitive compensation. We are open to training pharmacists without previous experience in a closed-door pharmacy setting.
Under indirect supervision, you will provide a full range of patient services, including filling prescriptions, supervising Pharmacy Technicians, and delivering professional services while ensuring compliance with professional standards and applicable laws.
Responsibilities
- Interprets written prescriptions, checks for drug interactions and allergies, enters prescription and patient data into the computer system, and provides prescription information to Pharmacy Technicians for filling.
- Supervises Pharmacy Technicians and verifies the accuracy of all work.
- Communicates medication instructions to patients, including dosage and duration.
- Consults with healthcare professionals and conducts research to ensure patient care aligns with professional standards and state laws.
- Reviews inventory daily, places orders for medications, and maintains adequate supplies without overstocking.
- Ensures proper billing in compliance with insurance plans, CMS, and the Board of Pharmacy.
- Maintains a current state pharmacy license and ensures store competitiveness by controlling operational expenses and maximizing sales.
- Maintains regular and punctual attendance while fostering courteous and professional relationships with patients, customers, and co-workers.
- Complies with all security and loss prevention procedures, including setting alarms and securing safes.
- Maintains a perpetual Schedule II inventory and handles third-party rejections.
- Completes daily and weekly reports and follows company procedures for dispensing incidents, including notifications and report completion.
- Ensures compliance with all company procedures and federal/state laws, rules, and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor’s level degree in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited Pharmacy College.
- Active and unrestricted Pharmacy license in the state.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
