We are looking for an efficient, flexible, and highly motivated Staff Pharmacist to join our team full-time at our closed-door Medicap Pharmacy facility in Indianola, IA. Flexible dress code and a caring team environment. Open to training pharmacists without previous experience.

About the role

Under indirect supervision, provides a full range of patient services by filling prescriptions, supervising Pharmacy Technicians, and providing professional services. Ensures all services comply with professional standards and applicable laws.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets written prescriptions, checks for drug interactions and allergies, enters prescription and patient data into the computer system, and gives prescription information to Pharmacy Technician for filling.
  • Supervises Technicians and checks all work for accuracy.
  • Conveys pertinent information regarding how and for how long the medication should be taken.
  • Consults with other health care professionals and conducts research as necessary to ensure that all services are in the best interests of the patient and conform to established professional standards and applicable state laws.
  • Reviews inventory daily and places orders for medications to maintain adequate supplies without overstocking.
  • Ensures proper billing occurs when the pharmacist is on duty in compliance with insurance plans, CMS, and/or the board of pharmacy.
  • Maintains current state pharmacy license.
  • Maintains store competitiveness and profitability by controlling operational expenses and maximizing sales.
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
  • Develops courteous and professional relationships with patients, customers, and co-workers.
  • Complies with all security/loss prevention procedures including setting alarms and securing safes.
  • Maintains a perpetual schedule II inventory.
  • Completes third-party rejections.
  • Maintains daily and weekly reports.
  • In cases of dispensing incidents, follows company procedures: notification and report completion.
  • Ensures compliance with all company procedures and federal and state laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's level degree in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited Pharmacy College.
  • Active and unrestricted Pharmacy license in the state.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
