Responsibilities
- Collaborate with physicians, residents, and other healthcare professionals in the prescribing, preparation, dispensing, administration, and monitoring of medications.
- Adapt to evolving regulatory standards and meet new professional requirements as they arise.
- Provide guidance and oversight to direct support personnel, including pharmacy technicians.
- Assume essential responsibilities and perform duties of a pharmacy manager in their absence, until a manager is on site or able to assert authority.
- Work independently with minimal direct supervision while cooperating with department staff, management, medical staff, and other health-system employees.
- Adapt to differing work conditions, changing workloads, and handle numerous and continuous interruptions.
- Demonstrate critical thinking in decision-making, adapt to changing priorities, and manage emergency situations with excellent judgment and expedited performance.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: PharmD required. Advanced training such as a master’s degree or residency preferred.
- Minimum Experience: At least three (3) years of hospital-based or health-system-based experience preferred.
- Skills: General data entry skills, excellent written and verbal communication, demonstrated critical thinking, and the ability to foster collaborative relationships.
- Certification/Registration: Current NYS Pharmacist License and Registration required.
Physical Requirements
- Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks.
- Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment.
- Ability to withstand long periods of sitting, standing, and/or constant walking.
- Ability to carry objects and push and pull carts.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

- Environmental Demands: Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated, or ventilated facility with no routine exposure to hazards.
- Mental Demands: Ability to work well under pressure, organize and synthesize new information, prioritize tasks, and demonstrate critical thinking, analytical skills, and flexibility. Ability to multi-task and maintain detailed attention to work in an environment with uncontrolled interruptions. Sensitivity to customer needs and expectations.
- Schedule: May be subject to irregular hours, including evenings or potentially weekends, to participate in operational and community events as necessary.
