Staff Pharmacist

The Staff Pharmacist provides education and counseling to patients and fills patient prescriptions.

Responsibilities

• Fills patient prescriptions and answers provider questions
• Provides counseling on both prescription medications and over-the-counter medications in accordance with APhA guidelines
• Provides exceptional customer service to all consumers
• Assists in medication ordering and maintenance of appropriate inventory controls within the pharmacy
• Assists in the procurement, storing, and accounting of pharmaceuticals
• Conducts drug utilization reviews as needed
• Manages rejected claims
• Provides troubleshooting functions for third-party discrepancies and other prescription filling issues
• Assists with training and management of pharmacy technicians and volunteer pharmacists, ensuring policies and protocols are followed

Requirements

• Registered with current New York State Pharmacist license
• Experience working within a retail pharmacy setting highly preferred
• Experience serving specialty and underserved populations highly preferred
• Demonstrated typing and counting accuracy, keen attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
• Awareness of and sensitivity to the issues and health disparities faced by underserved populations is essential

The actual rate of pay offered will be based on a variety of individualized factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s skills, relevant experience, educational background, internal equity, and market considerations.
