Staff Outcome Designer
About the role
The role is part of a high-impact design systems and technology leadership team focused on scaling design work creation, evaluation, shipping, and improvement. It combines agentic AI, design systems, automation, production infrastructure, and exploratory product design.
Responsibilities
- Architect and build an agentic design system platform, including reusable components, patterns, documentation, utilities, MCPs, plugins, and agent skills that Product Designers and Design Engineers can leverage.
- Develop automated intake and evaluation systems that triage design requests and contributions while checking work against established standards and governance requirements.
- Create release QA automation to identify quality, consistency, and design-system issues before they reach production.
- Establish production telemetry and feedback loops that measure how shipped design work performs and feed insights back into the design platform and development process.
- Determine where human review and decision-making are essential and where automation can reliably take ownership.
- Lead moonshot initiatives exploring the future of agentic customer experiences, researching emerging technologies and turning promising concepts into real products and experiences.
- Work across design, product, and engineering disciplines, assembling the right teams and expertise for exploratory projects without relying on fixed organizational boundaries.
- Build and maintain reliable systems within cloud and deployment environments, including Docker, Kubernetes/EKS on AWS, and GitHub-based CI/CD pipelines.
- Partner with design leadership and contribute platform-informed perspectives to strategic initiatives, team reviews, and the broader design roadmap.
- Establish measurable systems and processes that increase design velocity, reduce manual effort, improve quality, and generate actionable production insights.
Requirements
- Deep, hands-on experience building and scaling agentic design systems, including automated documentation, design/code source-of-truth synchronization, governance, visual auditing, automated reviews, plugins, MCPs, and agent skills.
- Proven experience developing production or release infrastructure such as automated pipelines, intake and evaluation workflows, QA automation, telemetry, or comparable systems.
- Strong familiarity with deployment technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes/EKS on AWS, and GitHub CI/CD, or equivalent production infrastructure.
- Demonstrated judgment around the appropriate balance between automation and human oversight, with the ability to explain and defend those decisions through concrete examples.
- A track record of leading ambiguous, cross-functional, exploratory, or moonshot initiatives and turning early-stage concepts into practical, shipped outcomes.
- Ability to operate effectively as the first or only person in a function, creating systems, processes, standards, and a playbook from the ground up.
- Strong systems thinking and the ability to connect design tooling, infrastructure, governance, production data, and user outcomes into a cohesive operating model.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence Product Designers, Design Engineers, engineering partners, and leadership.
Preferred
- Active participation in the design systems community through writing, speaking, open source contributions, or similar work.
- Familiarity with knowledge graphs, vector stores, semantic infrastructure, or technologies supporting agent context and memory.
- Experience with evaluation and validation frameworks for agentic outputs and emerging AI workflows.
- Exposure to emerging agentic technologies, particularly within private-sector or defense environments, and an appetite for experimenting with unproven approaches.
Benefits
Candidates can expect a highly autonomous, high-agency role with significant ownership over a new and evolving area of design technology. Exposure to cutting-edge agentic AI, automation, design systems, cloud infrastructure, and emerging customer experiences. The opportunity to lead ambitious cross-functional and moonshot initiatives without rigid role boundaries. A distributed working environment with collaboration across design, engineering, product, and operational teams. The opportunity to define new standards, processes, and best practices rather than inherit an established playbook.
