Staff or Project Civil Engineer

About the Role

We are hiring for an experienced professional to join our team as a Staff Engineer and contribute to our Land Development projects on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Raleigh, NC. This person will have the opportunity to work on a variety of private and public site development projects across various markets.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the development of Land Development Plans, including the preparation of engineering design drawings, technical specifications, and engineering reports (from schematic design through construction).
• Coordinate permits through regulatory agencies for large-scale, complex projects.
• Perform zoning interpretation and prepare feasibility studies, drawings, specifications, and reports.
• Contribute to stormwater management design: Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) modeling, Erosion and Sediment Control (E&SC) planning, etc.
• Utilize advanced understanding of ordinances/regulations (local, state, & federal) as well as the relevant permitting process(es) to ensure compliance.
• Engage with regulatory agencies.
• Manage all aspects of project efforts and interface with clients.
• Nurture existing client relationships as well as develop new clients.
• Mentor junior-level staff.
• Provide quality control of staff design & reports.
• Prepare proposals and track project budgets for profitability.
• Additional duties may be assigned, as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering-oriented discipline (preferably Civil Engineering).
• 4+ years of professional experience working in Engineering, preferably with land development projects.

Please note that we are willing to consider a higher-level position for a candidate that qualifies with additional experience accordingly.

Preferred Qualifications

• P.E. license in NC is preferred.
• Experience working on land development and infrastructure improvement projects.
• Proficiency with engineering tools (e.g., CADD, project management software, etc.); exposure to AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bluebeam is a plus.
• Experience with stormwater management (SWM) design calculations, especially while utilizing H&H modeling tools.
• Proficiency in standard office software applications: Microsoft Office 365 (especially Word, Excel, and Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, etc.
• Proven ability to look at the “Big Picture” as well as project goals to coordinate various design disciplines accordingly.
• Proven track record of demonstrating punctuality with consistent attendance.
• Proven ability to work in an energetic & challenging team environment as a collaborative team player, while maintaining the ability to work independently.
• Proven ability to demonstrate problem-solving skills, especially when working on a variety of projects while providing solutions to difficult issues.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
