Staff Optical Test Development Engineer

We are looking for a staff optical engineer to develop optical test solutions for our optical products. You will be empowered to make decisions and implement your creative ideas to advance Nokia corporate strategy in a fast-paced manufacturing environment supporting Nokia's highly innovative integrated products. This position emphasizes continuous improvement of our optical communication products while maintaining Nokia's high quality of reliability, recognized by our customers.

Responsibilities

• Develop, sustain, install, document, and support functional/system manufacturing test for Nokia’s optical transport equipment products.
• Create required test plans and specifications.
• Develop and support automated manufacturing test infrastructure.
• Write VB.NET/Python-based software to automate test execution.
• Build tools for fault isolation and identification for manufacturing technical staff.
• Refine processes and strategies to drive failures earlier and out of the manufacturing process.
• Perform statistical analysis of optical product test parameters and equipment measurements.
• Partner with other engineering staff to define and implement detailed testability requirements.
• Serve as a key member of cross-functional New Product Introduction (NPI) and defect reduction teams.
• Continually mature the test infrastructure.
• Work independently and prioritize tasks on a weekly/monthly basis.

Requirements

• Working experience with products involving hardware, firmware, and software elements.
• Experience in optical transport networks or optical switches/routers.
• Practical experience defining test criteria based on product specifications and error of measurement.
• Proven ability to develop automated test solutions and deploy them to remote manufacturing locations.
• Hands-on experience with electrical and optical test and measurement equipment (e.g., optical switch, OSA) and optical tests (e.g., OSNR, BER, Eye Diagram, parametric measurements).
• Knowledge of databases like SQL Server.
• Proficiency in VB.NET/C#/C++ and Visual Studio 2020 or higher; Python is a plus.
• Analytical, detail-oriented, with strong quantitative analysis skills.
• Self-motivated, proactive communicator, and able to work well in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Preferred: 5+ years of experience in optical/data networking industry-related test development.
