Staff Nurse, Surgical ICU - Full-Time, Nights

About the role
A Staff Nurse is a registered professional nurse (RN) who manages patient-centered care that is outcome-directed. Patient-centered care principles and professional nursing practice standards provide the foundation for the nurse to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care provided. The Staff Nurse assumes primary responsibility and accountability for all patient care personally provided and that provided by those directly under their supervision.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes appropriate assessment skills to determine patient needs.
- Develops a plan of care for patients whose needs do not require the expertise of a Case Manager or collaborates with the Case Manager to develop a plan of care for specified patients.
- Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned by Care Center Director or Patient Care Manager.
- Provides support to peers by assisting as needed, being a resource person, and working as a team member.
- Assists Care Center in development/attainment of goals and objectives.
- Uses clinical pathways and/or plans of care incorporating standards of practice.
- Assesses own need for professional growth and development and seeks appropriate resources to meet those needs.
- Attends continuing education programs and participates in program evaluation.
Requirements
- Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN). ADN nurses are required to enroll in a BSN program within six (6) to nine (9) months of hire and complete their BSN degree within 30 months. ADN nurses receive 100% tuition reimbursement towards a BSN degree from an accredited program.
- Current RN Illinois license.
- Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN degree or higher.
- 2+ years of Intensive Care Unit experience.
Schedule
- Shift: Nights, 7pm-7:30am.
- Job Type/FTE: Full-Time (0.9).
Pay
The pay range reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position, based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and current market data. Compensation at hire will vary based on candidate qualifications, experience, and organizational considerations, such as internal equity.
