The staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost-effective care.

Harding Hospital at the OSU Wexner Medical Center offers adult and geriatric inpatient programs with 84 beds, providing emergency stabilization, diagnosis, and the initial stages of treatment for those requiring inpatient care. Patient-centered, trauma-informed care is supported by an interdisciplinary team with a strong focus on staff and patient safety, clinical excellence, and professional growth.

This position is located on Harding 3rd floor, a 24-bed psychiatric behavioral health unit specializing in treating a wide range of mental health conditions, with particular expertise in psychotic disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder.

Responsibilities

The Staff Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and their family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. Responsibilities include:

  • Assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating, and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model.

Requirements

  • 2-year college degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or ACEN (Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing) accredited nursing program is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with a major in Nursing from a CCNE or ACEN accredited nursing program is preferred.
  • Current Ohio RN license or interim permit required.
  • 2 years of experience in behavioral health or acute care setting is preferred.
  • Maintains current Ohio RN license and meets mandatory educational and health requirements.
  • Demonstrates computer skills required to meet job functions.

Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post-offer process.
