Staff Nurse - Infusion Center
About The Role
The primary purpose of the Staff Nurse (Infusion Center) position is to administer total patient care based on individualized needs of assigned patients and families in accordance with professional nursing standards. The Staff Nurse will utilize knowledge of chemotherapy and/or radiation oncology procedures to assess, screen, evaluate, educate, and provide care management/outcome management in accordance with professional nursing standards to adult patients who are under the care of the Outpatient Oncology Services team. The role of the RN includes practice/office support. Always demonstrates team approaches and flexibility by rotation between Oncology Service Departments as required. Shows a working knowledge of UH, Joint Commission & DOH regulations. Participates in evidence based nursing and related QA and PI endeavors.
Responsibilities
- Provides comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care based on the individualized needs of patients and their families while adhering to professional nursing standards.
- Affirms, screens, evaluates, educates, and coordinates care for adult oncology patients receiving treatment through Outpatient Oncology Services.
- Applies specialized knowledge of chemotherapy and radiation oncology treatments to support safe and effective patient care.
- Delivers care management and outcome management services to promote positive patient outcomes and continuity of care.
- Supports daily clinical and office operations within the oncology practice setting.
- Demonstrates a collaborative team-oriented approach and flexibility by rotating among Oncology Service departments as needed.
- Maintains knowledge of and compliance with University Hospital (UH), Joint Commission, and Department of Health (DOH) regulations and standards.
- Participates in evidence-based nursing practice initiatives, quality assurance (QA) activities, and performance improvement (PI) programs to enhance patient care and clinical outcomes.
- Promotes excellence in patient care through effective communication, teamwork, professionalism, and adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required.
- Current New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare professionals required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of full-time hospital nursing experience preferred.
- Oncology nursing experience preferred.
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)/ONCC Provider Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certificate and/or Radiation Therapy Certificate required.
- IV/Venous Access Device Certification required.
- Required certifications must be obtained within the first ninety (90) days of employment if not already held and maintained throughout employment.
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification preferred.
- Must be able to work predetermined flexible hours.
