Staff Nurse, Hematology/Oncology - Part-Time, Nights

About the role

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, University of Chicago Medicine, as a Staff Nurse in the 10W Hematology/Oncology department at our Hyde Park campus. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes appropriate assessment skills to determine patient needs.
• Develops a plan of care for those patients whose needs do not require the expertise of a Case Manager or collaborates with the Case Manager to develop a plan of care for specified patients.
• Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned by Care Center Director or Patient Care Manager.
• Provides support to peers by assisting as needed, being a resource person and working as a team member.
• Affords assistance in the development/attainment of goals and objectives for the Care Center.
• Uses clinical pathways and/or plans of care incorporating standards of practice.
• Assesses own need for professional growth and development and seeks appropriate resources to meet needs.
• Attends continuing education programs and participates in program evaluation.

Requirements

• Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
• Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Current RN Illinois license.
• ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate within one year of hire.
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a BSN program within six (6) to nine (9) months of hire, and make progress toward and complete their BSN degree within 30 months.
• ADN nurses receive 100% tuition reimbursement towards a BSN degree from an accredited program.
