About the role
Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, University of Chicago Medicine, as a Staff Nurse in the 10W Hematology/Oncology department at our Hyde Park campus. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes appropriate assessment skills to determine patient needs.
- Develops a plan of care for those patients whose needs do not require the expertise of a Case Manager or collaborates with the Case Manager to develop a plan of care for specified patients.
- Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned by Care Center Director or Patient Care Manager.
- Provides support to peers by assisting as needed, being a resource person and working as a team member.
- Affords assistance in the development/attainment of goals and objectives for the Care Center.
- Uses clinical pathways and/or plans of care incorporating standards of practice.
- Assesses own need for professional growth and development and seeks appropriate resources to meet needs.
- Attends continuing education programs and participates in program evaluation.
Requirements
- Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
- Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Current RN Illinois license.
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate within one year of hire.
- Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Qualifications
- Enrolled in a BSN program within six (6) to nine (9) months of hire, and make progress toward and complete their BSN degree within 30 months.
- ADN nurses receive 100% tuition reimbursement towards a BSN degree from an accredited program.
