Role Summary
The Staff Nurse provides specialized nursing care within the behavioral health unit, focusing on family-centered, patient-specific care across all ages and developmental stages. They assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions, demonstrating leadership and professional duties, including mentoring and staff education. The role emphasizes patient-centered care, quality improvement, safety, evidence-based practices, and system-based approaches. The nurse collaborates with providers to ensure efficient operations, high-quality care, and excellent customer service, primarily for pediatric patients. They perform informatics and technology duties and may be temporarily assigned to different areas based on patient needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
- Provide holistic care addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
- Lead and mentor clinical staff, support staff education, and precept new employees.
- Engage in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and evidence-based practices.
- Promote collaboration among healthcare team members for optimal patient outcomes.
- Utilize informatics and technology systems effectively.
- Perform other duties as required to meet patient and organizational needs.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Experience in healthcare and familiarity with electronic medical records (e.g., EPIC) preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required.
- Current Ohio RN license, BLS certification, and a BSN (or in progress) are required.
- Minimum of one year of relevant experience preferred; supervisory experience is not required.
