Staff Nurse - Adult Acute Care Unit (2JCP) 50% - 100% - Variable Shifts Available
About the role
The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a Staff Nurse (RN) for the Adult Acute Care Unit (2JCP). The Adult Acute Care Unit is part of UI Health Care's Medical Surgical Services (MSS) division. The Adult Acute Care Unit is a 30-bed, medical surgical unit serving a patient population including the Family Medicine service along with specialized surgical patients such as otolaryngology (ENT), oral surgery, and plastic reconstructive surgery. Patients have access to private rooms, and the unit is supported by a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, quality health care to patients in accordance with hospital policies and procedures
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care according to the nursing process
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Document patient care accurately and timely
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare providers
- Adhere to infection control protocols and safety standards
Requirements
- An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader, or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members
- General computer skills are required
Qualifications
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Masters Degree in Nursing is highly desired
- If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable
- Previous telemetry experience is desired
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures
Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, collaboration with interdisciplinary team members, and ability to document patient care accurately and timely are essential skills for this role.

Pay
$61,183 minimum at 100% effort to commensurate *This does not include differentials. Salary will vary based on years of experience and percent of effort.* SEIU Pay Plan: https://hr.uiowa.edu/pay/pay-plans/seiu-pay-plan
