About the role
The Staff Model-Based Systems Engineer will provide leadership for initiatives with broad scope & high business impact. They will have a demonstrated record of project leadership and process excellence. The role is guided by operating policy. Works with cross functional teams. The role has autonomy within the operational area or a segment within a larger business unit. The role may have a major impact on a small business unit or Family within a Function, or P&L. High levels of evaluative judgment and operational acumen are required to achieve outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical and program management leadership
- Develop collaborative solutions working across horizontal support organizations
- Support the teams in modernizing design and systems engineering processes with lean tools
- Execute modelling within an MBSE environment aligned with best practices and industry standards, related but not limited to: requirements, functional architecture, logical architecture, physical architecture, interfaces, and trade studies
- Effectively manage a collaborative digital environment by supporting data management, tool and process sustainment, authoritative sources of truth, digital threads, and data integration
- Provide technical guidance to other personnel and assigned teams, mentor others in the organization
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
- Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments
- Lead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and/or tasks
- Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
- Provide leadership to help focus and integrate new technologies smoothly into NPI programs and production
- Other Model-Based Enterprise responsibilities as-required
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering position
- This role requires the successful candidate to maintain a US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. Citizenship. Preference will be given to candidates who currently hold US Government Security Clearance
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening
- Due to security requirements, this position must be able to work a full-time in the office schedule
Desired Qualifications
- 10 years of relevant experience in gas turbine engines
- 2 years of relevant experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Active DoD Security Clearance at the Secret level or higher
- Active participation in a minimum of 1 development engine test program with significant ownership in test planning and/or execution
- Demonstrated ability to lead by influence
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
