Staff Mobile Engineer
About the role
You will lead technical ownership of the Gateway Android app that powers a next-generation product in Mobile Cardiac Telemetry. This is a hands-on, staff-level role for an engineer who can lead mobile projects end-to-end, understand product needs, define scope, make architectural decisions, partner effectively with cross-functional teams, and write robust production code. You will also lead technical design discussions and code reviews, mentor other engineers, and help establish durable engineering practices for a safety-critical mobile platform.

Requirements
- 12+ years of total mobile software development experience with BA/BS in Computer Science, or related technical field, or 8+ years and MS, with at least 3 years operating at a Senior or Staff level
- Deep expertise in Kotlin, Android Jetpack ecosystem, Hilt, Coroutines, and modern UI frameworks like Jetpack Compose
- Experience architecting reliable, long-running mobile applications, including background execution, foreground services, process death, state restoration, battery optimization, and memory management
- Production Experience with Bluetooth Low Energy on Android
- Strong grasp of API styles and messaging protocols such as REST, GraphQL, MQTT, or comparable pub/sub technologies
- Demonstrated technical leadership, including driving architecture across cross-functional teams, writing design documents, mentoring engineers, and influencing without authority
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience building software in a regulated industry like medical devices, healthcare, automotive, or fintech
- Familiarity with medical device software standards and cybersecurity practices, such as IEC 62304, ISO 14971, FDA premarket cybersecurity guidance, threat modeling, and software bill of materials management
- Experience with secure storage (Android Keystore/StrongBox), certificate pinning and mTLS, threat modeling, secure OTA/update strategies
- Experience with managed or dedicated Android devices, including Android Enterprise, kiosk mode, device policy management, and enterprise FOTA
Bonus
- Experience with commercial awareness or basic competency in iOS ecosystems (Swift) or cross-platform tooling

- Estimated Pay Range: $166,000.00 - $216,000.00
