Staff Landscape Architect

Qualifications

• Knowledge of: Required Mathematical Functions To Perform The Job Duties.
• Construction experience, or equivalent, leading to the knowledge of procedures, terminology, and materials used in building construction.
• Ability To Demonstrate excellence in customer service and customer relations skills.
• Use a keyboard and computer terminal, or the ability to learn within a reasonable amount of time.
• Organize daily work and set up own inspection route.
• Read and understand building and site plans.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Communicate technical information effectively.
• Gather and weigh facts against applicable laws, rules, and regulations; draw appropriate, well thought out conclusions concerning questions and facts; understands provision for alternates in the code.
• Demonstrate reasonable judgment in application of the code; understands reasons and intent of the code and communicates this to the public.
• Work well with the public and City staff.
• Use conflict management skills such as active listening, non defensive communication style, paraphrasing, and empathy.
• Be assertive as the situation demands; deal with angry or upset people; resolve disputes.

Requirements

• License or Certificate: Possession of an Oregon "A" level plumbing certification, or the ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Medical Gas Certification, or the ability to obtain within 90 days.
• A valid Oregon driver’s license or, the ability to obtain by date of hire; must pass driving records check and, if hired, maintain a driving record that meets the City’s standard.
• Criminal Records check.
