Staff Hardware Reliability Engineer, Android XR Hardware

About the role

The Staff Hardware Reliability Engineer for Android XR Hardware will be part of a team focused on developing innovative silicon solutions for Google's consumer products. This role involves bridging system architecture, design, engineering, and manufacturing to ensure hardware reliability. The engineer will lead efforts in component selection, reliability testing, and failure analysis, contributing to the next generation of hardware experiences. The position is critical in shaping the performance and efficiency of lightweight XR devices integrated with AI.

Responsibilities

• Identify flaws and issues with hardware components and drive corrective solutions.
• Evaluate hardware design feasibility based on product requirements and customize design solutions.
• Lead and approve activities in hardware design, architecture, technology, or development for complex products.
• Balance hardware performance priorities against power, cost, and regulatory specifications.
• Explain design decisions to external business customers and industry partners as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a specialized field.
• 6 years of experience working in a hardware reliability technical environment.
• 3 years of experience in technical leadership.
• Master's degree or PhD in a related field is preferred.
