Staff Hardware Engineer, Test Systems

About the role

This position is responsible for designing and implementing product test solutions, working on system requirements, software, firmware, or hardware solutions. The candidate will collaborate with key Test Group members to define next-generation test systems.

Responsibilities

  • Co-develop acoustic test solutions for production factory and R&D, following department processes including requirements, schematics, component selection, wiring diagrams, theory of operation, PCB layout, calibration, and leading technical reviews.
  • Perform statistical analysis to characterize and validate acoustic test systems.
  • Drive standardization of test platforms, hardware architecture, calibration methodologies, and measurement systems across sites.
  • Build and maintain cross-functional working relationships both locally and abroad.
  • Partner with Operations, Product Engineering, Quality, NPI, and Manufacturing leadership to define next-generation test strategies.
  • Provide technical coaching across global test engineering teams, lead technology investigations, and proof-of-concept projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required; MS preferred.
  • 4–15 years of experience developing hardware for small-signal audio and/or large-signal audio test solutions.
  • 12+ years of relevant experience developing advanced hardware test systems.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex technical programs across multiple sites.
  • Experience influencing technical strategy and mentoring engineering teams.
  • Experience designing, building, and debugging electronic systems using digital oscilloscopes, power supplies, I2C digital bus, and standard small-signal electrical lab equipment.
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer and experience with at least 4-layer PCBs.
  • Knowledge of audio or signal processing techniques, analog/digital conversions.
  • Knowledge of structured hardware and software principles and methods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with system-on-chip (SoC) programming.
  • Experience with digital design techniques.
  • Experience with transducers and acoustics.
  • Experience designing 3D-printed prototypes.
