Staff GNC Engineer

Lanteris Space LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Intuitive Machines, is seeking a Staff Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) Engineer to support our GNC 300 product line in Palo Alto, CA. In this role, you will independently design, analyze, and test GNC algorithms and orbital analysis for various spacecraft missions . Intuitive Machines is a leading space infrastructure company that builds spacecraft, connects networks, and operates infrastructure-as-a-service for commercial, civil, and national security customers. With a proven track record across the space domain, the Company, through organic growth and portfolio expansion, has built over 300 spacecraft, delivered over 260 kilograms of payload to the lunar surface, and provided precision navigation expertise that has guided spacecraft across our solar system. Responsibilities Technical Analysis & Support: Independently perform analysis of spacecraft attitude control system performanceConduct simulation and modeling of GNC algorithmsAnalyze telemetry data from on-orbit spacecraft Design & Development Develop GNC flight software componentsCreate and validate MATLAB/Simulink modelsGenerate technical documentation and analysis reportsDevelop test scripts and automation toolsContribute to architectural and design decisions Testing & Validation Perform GNC hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) testing activitiesDevelop sensor models (gyroscopes, star trackers, magnetometers, etc.)Develop actuator models (reaction wheels, CMGs, magnetic torque rods, thrusters)Prepare test procedures and data analysis scriptsDocument test results and investigate anomalies Collaboration & Mentorship Participate in design reviews and team meetingsCollaborate with cross-functional teams (Flight Software, Systems Engineering, etc.)Present findings to engineering teamsMentor junior engineers Minimum Requirements Must be a U.S. citizenBachelor's degree in Aerospace (Space), Astronautics, Mechanical (Dynamics), Electrical (Controls), Physics (Astrodynamics, Orbits), Applied Math or related field (Master's preferred)5 years of related industry experience in spacecraft GNC systems, Master's degree may count for 2 years of experience. PHD may count for 2 years of experience.Understanding of GNC principles and orbital mechanicsExperience with full lifecycle GNC development Technical Skills Proficiency with C/C++/MATLAB/Simulink/Python/JuliaExperience with Git/Gitlab-Github, Linux/Windows, AWS Pipelines In support of pay transparency at Lanteris Space Systems, we disclose salary ranges on all U.S. job postings. The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range. The base pay for this position within California is: $117,000.00 - $195,000.00 annually. For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
