Staff Geotechnical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Support ongoing Engineer-of-Record services for tailings and heap leach projects located around the world.
• Perform geotechnical analyses, including stability, seepage, and deformation analyses, to support the design of mining infrastructure such as tailings storage facilities and heap leach pads.
• Affix drawings and figures using Autodesk Civil 3D.
• Affix soil and foundation recommendations for surface infrastructure.
• Affix tailings dam breach evaluations.
• Contribute to the development of geotechnical reports, design reports, presentations, and proposals.
• Complete geotechnical site assessments and associated field services for development of mining infrastructure.
• Support quality assurance and quality control activities during construction of tailings dams and heap leach facilities.
• Affix material characterization activities, including field data collection, designing and overseeing laboratory programs, interpreting laboratory data, developing appropriate models, and drafting of technical specifications for construction.
• Other work as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Science (minimum); Master of Science (preferred). Civil Engineering or Geological Engineering degrees from ABET accredited universities are preferred.
• Professional Experience: 0+ years for Entry-Level. 2-5 years for Staff-Level.
• Computer Software: Significant experience with MS Office Suite. Some experience using standard geotechnical design software (Rocscience, GeoStudios, etc.); numerical modeling experience and programming experience are advantageous; and basic understanding of Autodesk Civil 3D.
• Geotechnical Laboratory: Proficient with standard material testing and index tests.
• Required Registrations/ Professional Development: Successful completion of FE Exam. Professional Engineer registration with greater than 4 years of experience.
