Staff Geologist I

About the role

Verdantas is seeking a Staff Geologist I for the Harrisburg, PA, office. This role will be responsible for performing various tasks related to environmental and infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform field tasks, including data collection, measurements, and excavation observation
• Prepare field notes and related documentation in accordance with company standards
• Cover drilling oversight and logging of soil borings, monitoring wells, and soil vapor points
• Collect groundwater, soil, sediment, air, and surface water samples for laboratory analysis
• Collect and interpret data and information through research, use of online databases, modeling, and file reviews
• Enter data into report format using applicable software and company formatting guidelines
• Maintain spreadsheets and databases associated with regulatory compliance
• Prepare maps and other illustrations for data interpretation and presentation
• Absorb and prepare regulatory submittals, such as permit applications and plans
• Prepare technical reports to document project findings, conclusions, and recommendations
• Operate and maintain remediation systems
• Apply basic knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and regulatory programs
• Absorb on-call emergency projects on occasion

Requirements

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Geology or other degree that qualifies for future professional geologist licensure in Pennsylvania
• 0-2 years of relevant experience
• Proficiency with MS Office suite of products
• 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training a plus
• Previous consulting experience is a plus
• Must have a valid driver's license
