Staff Frontend Engineer, Electronic Trading

Ridgeline is the first front-to-back system of record for investment managers. Founded by visionary entrepreneur Dave Duffield, the company was created to modernize an industry held back by outdated, disconnected technology. As a Ridgeline Staff Software Engineer on our Trading team, you'll contribute design skills and technical expertise to a team where design, strategy, and engineering collaborate closely. You'll be involved in the entire software development process, from requirements and design reviews through the implementation of new products.

Responsibilities

• Be involved in the entire software development process, from requirements and design reviews through the implementation of new products
• Impact a developing tech stack based on modern front-end frameworks and cost-efficient utilization of AWS back-end services
• Participate in the creation and construction of developer-based automation that leads to scalable, high-quality applications customers will depend on to run their businesses
• Coach, mentor, and inspire teams of product engineers that are responsible for delivering high performing, secure enterprise applications
• Think creatively, own problems, seek solutions, and communicate clearly along the way
• Contribute to a collaborative environment rooted in learning, teaching, and transparency

Requirements

• A degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related discipline
• 8+ years in a software engineering position with a history of architecting and designing new products and technologies
• 6+ years building web front-ends using technologies like React, Jest, JavaScript and TypeScript
• Understand the value of automated testing at all levels
• Experience building cloud native applications on AWS/Azure/Google Cloud
• Working knowledge of Java/Kotlin, with an interest in participating in back-end / full-stack development
• Comfort leveraging AI platforms and agentic workflows to scale delivery and improve code quality
• Willingness to learn about new technologies while simultaneously developing expertise in a business domain/problem space
• An aptitude for problem solving
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Serious interest in having fun at work

Qualifications

• Bonus: Backend experience using RESTful/GraphQL APIs
• Bonus: Experience with Docker and containerization
• Bonus: Understanding of AWS services (ECS/Fargate, Kafka/MSK) and infrastructure (IaC/Terraform)
• Bonus: Experience working within an Agile development construct
• Bonus: Experience with electronic trading, investment management or asset management

Skills

• Strong understanding of modern front-end frameworks and technologies
• Experience with cloud-native applications and AWS services
• Proficiency in Java/Kotlin and other relevant programming languages

Pay

The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is $182,500 - $228,000. In select locations (including, the San Francisco Bay Area, CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below. The typical starting salary range for this role is: $200,500 - $251,000.
