About the role
The Staff Engineer – Water/Wastewater role is a full-time, on-site position based in Reno, NV.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the planning, design, and analysis of municipal and private water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Preparing engineering calculations, developing plans and specifications.
- Assisting with hydraulic modeling.
- Performing technical report writing.
- Collaborating with project managers and senior engineers.
- Participating in field investigations.
- Supporting permitting and regulatory compliance.
- Aiding in construction administration activities such as submittal review and site visits.
- Collaborating with clients and stakeholders.
- Maintaining project documentation.
- Contributing to quality assurance and continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications
- Technical engineering skills in water and wastewater systems, including hydraulic analysis, pipeline and facility design, and understanding of treatment processes.
- Proficiency with engineering software and tools, such as CAD platforms, hydraulic modeling programs, and standard office applications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities to address complex infrastructure and operational challenges.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for reports, specifications, client correspondence, and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, manage multiple tasks, and meet project schedules and budgets.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field; EIT certification required and eligibility or intent to obtain PE licensure in Nevada and/or California is a plus.
- Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements for water and wastewater projects; experience with public infrastructure projects is desirable.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to conduct occasional fieldwork and site visits as needed.
