Staff Engineer, Security
About the role
The Staff Security Engineer will serve as the technical backbone of our Security Engineering function at Grow Therapy. You'll lead the development of a consolidated, multi-year Security Engineering vision, driving the charge on AI-native Security, and designing, building, and rolling out foundational security services.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the Security Engineering North Star.
- Lead the development of a consolidated, multi-year Security Engineering vision.
- Conduct gap analyses, align with key stakeholders, and translate strategy into an executable roadmap.
- Build secure-by-default infrastructure.
- Design, build, and roll out foundational security services.
- Drive systematic data tagging across production data models.
- Align with Data Classification Policy to ensure compliance with security controls.
- Build company-wide security scorecards.
- Enable and empower the engineering organization.
- Partner with engineering, platform, and product teams.
- Drive automated Least Privilege and systematic Vulnerability Management.
Requirements
You'll need deep, multi-domain security expertise, recent hands-on engineering experience, and a proven track record of building security programs at scale. Clear communication skills and a passion for ownership and ambiguity are essential.
Qualifications
- Deep, multi-domain security expertise (Product Security, Cloud Security, Data Security, Access Governance, Detection & Response).
- Recent, hands-on engineering experience.
- Experience designing and shipping org-wide processes like Security Review, Secure Design, Security Champions, and Security Metrics Reporting.
- Clear, compelling communication skills.
- Energetic attitude towards ownership and ambiguity.

Pay
$217,000–$288,000 USD Annually (Hybrid Commitment)
$182,000- $240,000 USD Annually (Fully Remote Commitment)
Schedule
This role can be hybrid (onsite from our NYC, San Francisco, or Seattle hub location three days per week: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) or fully remote. Both arrangements include travel 2–3 times per year (e.g., company and department offsites).
