Staff Engineer, Linux Device Drivers

Qualcomm Cloud AI team is seeking a Linux device driver engineer to work on QCR-100 and related accelerators that speed up image reprocessing and AI workloads.

About the role

You will develop and extend Linux kernel driver code for PCIe device setup, firmware loading, MHI bus, DMABUF importation, and DMA transfers. Knowledge of SoC systems—including bus subsystems, DMA, PCIe, peripherals, synchronization mechanisms, and low-speed peripherals—is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Linux kernel driver development (PCIe, firmware, MHI bus, DMABUF, DMA)
• Implementation and testing of low-level kernel modules and sysfs interfaces
• Debugging and maintenance of driver code in a structured software environment

Requirements

• Experience with Linux kernel driver development, kernel modules, sysfs, and debugging techniques
• Proficiency in C
• Experience with git
• Ability to work in a structured software development environment

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience
• OR Master’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience
• OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience
• 2+ years of work experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python

Skills

• Desirable: 4+ years of relevant experience
• Linux kernel PCIe stack
• DKMS-based management of kernel modules
• DEB or RPM packaging
• TCP/IP fundamentals (MTU, IP addressing, DHCP, kernel networking/netdev)
• Strong understanding of DMA and IOMMU
• Experience with “SoC-as-a-Device” architectures or embedded Linux systems connected via PCIe

Pay

$134,800 – $202,200 per year
