Staff Engineer - Highway/Traffic
Responsibilities
Aid in the design and creation of roadway and traffic engineering plans, including alignments, profiles, signage, striping, and maintenance of traffic plans.
Support traffic engineering studies such as traffic impact studies, signal warrant analyses, and capacity analysis.
Collect and analyze data, including traffic counts and field observations.
Create technical reports, calculations, and supporting documentation using design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Synchro, and/or HCS.
Coordinate with internal team members across multiple disciplines.
Attend project meetings and assist with client coordination as needed.
Assist with construction phase services, including shop drawing review and field inspections.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university
- 0–2 years of relevant experience (internship experience preferred)
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within one year
- Basic knowledge of roadway and/or traffic engineering principles
- Familiarity with NJDOT, AASHTO, and MUTCD standards is a plus
- Experience with design and analysis software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Synchro, HCS, etc.) preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks

Pay
The projected compensation range for this position is $70,000 to $77,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as experience, education and skill set.
