Staff Engineer

About the role

Materials Sciences LLC (MSC) is seeking an Additive Manufacturing Engineer at its Huntsville, AL facility. The role serves the Department of Defense (DoD) to provide advanced material and fabrication solutions that support the warfighter. Key materials include fiber reinforced composite materials, specialty polymers, and additive manufacturing (AM) materials.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, fabricate, characterize/test, and document advanced material structures.
• Collaborate with a broader team on designing and delivering advanced material solutions to customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor or Master's degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of software and hardware used with production-grade additive manufacturing equipment (Laser Powder Bed Fusion, Direct Energy Deposition, Fused Deposition).
• CAD and Finite Element Analysis software knowledge (training available).
• Ability to develop, execute, and document Design of Experiments (DOE).
• Able to work independently and schedule tasks to meet deadlines.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members.
• Fundamental understanding of Mechanics of Materials.
